Photos from a recent trip to Copenhagen. Loving the typography used in Scandinavia, more images on my Flickr.

We went to the Danish Design Centre, and for the next three years they will be showing an historical exhibition of Danish Design. The exhibition ‘Denmark by Design’ shows the development in Danish design from 1945-2010. Decade by decade you will be able to follow Danish design’s focus on the individual, the home, the workplace, the public space and resolutions to societal issues. The exhibition explores the trends over time and how these trends have influenced the designers’ solutions and modes of expression. The exhibition also explores the new generation of designers and companies that will design the decades to come – and maintain Denmarks position as a leading design nation. We highly recommend anyone living in Denmark or travelling here to visit this exhibition. // via Fritz Hansen

The chairs below were the creative solution to a brief that was asking designers to create an item of furniture that can be used in a prision cell. The challenge lay in how to create such an object that did not make a loud noise when being thrown about or and could not be modified into a weapon.

We saw Richard Morrison at the Typographic Circle event last night. A great talk about his work in the film industry, he has created many a film title sequence. If you have never heard of him, you should really go check out his website. “The answer to all of your creative briefs is out there in the world, not on Google” [Richard Morrison]

I studied Theo Van Doesburg when I was at school, so couldn’t wait to see the Exhibition down at Tate Modern this weekend. He must be one of the reasons I do what I do, because I love what he created.

1988–1991

Moments ago Team Canada won the gold medal at the Winter Olympics beating the USA in over-time. I liked the Team Canada logo and thought I would look back at previous versions, I only found three versions dating back to 1976. The first logo was used between 1976-1987, the second 1988-91, and the current one which has been in use since 1995. In the meantime I would be interested to find the logo used between 92-94.

An Ampersand a day will keep the doctor away… or not! However there is a blog that delivers a finely crafted Ampersand a day for you to admire.
Today’s is in Bell by Richard Austin.

Superbowl XLIV is contested by New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. I saw my first American Football game last year at Penn State, so looking forward to it! This year’s Superbowl logo was designed by Attik.
For further reading on the logo check out Brand New.

The University for the Creative Arts postgraduate prospectuses have been featured in Design Week, Vol 25, No5 (4 Feb 2010)!
I had been working on that project for the best part of 6 months and it feels good to receive recognition for all the hard work and late nights one had to endure.

I know it is the 25th! But at least my first post is in January…
Blog is being redesigned at the moment, hence posting has been rather sparse of late. Keep an eye on further developments.
