Photos from a recent trip to Copenhagen. Loving the typography used in Scandinavia, more images on my Flickr.

We went to the Danish Design Centre, and for the next three years they will be showing an historical exhibition of Danish Design. The exhibition ‘Denmark by Design’ shows the development in Danish design from 1945-2010. Decade by decade you will be able to follow Danish design’s focus on the individual, the home, the workplace, the public space and resolutions to societal issues. The exhibition explores the trends over time and how these trends have influenced the designers’ solutions and modes of expression. The exhibition also explores the new generation of designers and companies that will design the decades to come – and maintain Denmarks position as a leading design nation. We highly recommend anyone living in Denmark or travelling here to visit this exhibition. // via Fritz Hansen

The chairs below were the creative solution to a brief that was asking designers to create an item of furniture that can be used in a prision cell. The challenge lay in how to create such an object that did not make a loud noise when being thrown about or and could not be modified into a weapon.
